Job description:

A teacher at the Stockholm International School is responsible for the quality education of students in relation to the SIS curricula and programs of study. S/he/they/ works to stimulate and motivate students towards high academic performance and commitment to lifelong learning as well as to prepare students for continuing education at SIS and other educational institutions.

A teacher at SIS is aware of and understands their importance for the academic development and psycho-social education of students. S/he/they supports the students in their development as global citizens. S/he/they contributes to the school’s ongoing development, and thus to the positive reputation of the school.

A teacher always keeps in mind the SIS motto: Valued, Challenged, Balanced, Prepared.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Primary School Teacheris responsible for the following:

  • To provide an excellent education for Primary students (Grades 1 to 5).
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the curriculum.
  • Communicating regularly with parents. 
  • Be an active and contributing member of the School’s faculty. 
  • Participating in the full range of professional activities in the school. 
  • Actively contributing to the operational needs of the school.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Teaching qualification
  • Qualifications in the area of Primary/Elementary education
  • Experience as a teacher. 
  • Excellent communication skills in English, at a native speaker level. 
  • The ability to establish rapport with adults and students. 
  • The ability to plan collaboratively and work effectively in a team 
  • A pleasant and friendly personality. 
  • The ability to function effectively under pressure. 
  • The ability to show initiative and work independently.

It would be desirable for the successful applicant to have a working knowledge of an inquiry-based learning program, IB PYP or their equivalent. Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage.

Child Protection Policy

At Stockholm International School, we are committed to protecting children. Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. All applicants will therefore be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening. Included in the recruitment process will be a local and national police check, as well as a mandatory police background check from the last 10 years of employment in every country worked. A judicial background check will be conducted prior to the issuance of the contract for prospective candidates applying to work at our school.

Contract: General Fixed-Term Contract (with a possible extension based on enrollment projections)

Time allocation: 100% 

Starting: August 7, 2026

Ending: June 15, 2027

Salary: Based on a salary scale
