Learning Support

Every student enriches our community, and we are proud to embrace the unique strengths each one brings. We welcome students with diverse mild to moderate learning needs.

Support is tailored to each student’s individual needs. Every student receiving learning support has an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which is implemented across all their classes to ensure consistent guidance and support.

In some cases, a student may need additional assistance beyond what SIS can provide. In these situations, our Special Support team collaborates closely with parents and may consult specialists such as educational psychologists, therapists, or learning assistants to ensure the best possible support.

English language support

At SIS, English is more than a subject – it’s a bridge to confidence, connection, and success.

Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme supports students who are developing their English proficiency, enabling them to access the curriculum with increasing confidence and independence.

Our specialist EAL teachers have extensive experience working with multilingual learners and provide targeted support both within and beyond the classroom. The programme focuses on developing academic language, including vocabulary, grammar, and language structures, closely aligned with the IB curriculum.

Support in Primary School

Students learn in small, supportive groups, building confidence while mastering English. Each new student receives a tailored plan to meet academic and social needs, exiting the programme when they can confidently read, write, speak, and listen.

Support in Middle School

Students’ English proficiency is assessed and support is provided as needed. EAL support is offered through a combination of in-class (push-in) and small group (pull-out) instruction, focusing on language development and supporting integration. Learning is aligned with mainstream classes and adapted to each student’s level.

Support in Upper School

Students enter with strong English skills to thrive academically. English B and a degree of support (1–2 lessons) are available for students needing extra focus on language acquisition.
