Student voice
Empowering student perspectives
At SIS, students are encouraged to share their ideas, speak with confidence, and take an active role in school life. They are supported to suggest activities, share their opinions, and represent their classmates. Through these opportunities, students learn from an early age how to express their ideas clearly, lead discussions, and speak with confidence.

“What makes SIS special is the students’ voice. We ensure we have an inclusive environment for our students, a nurturing environment where their voices are heard.”
Gunjit SethiDean of Students
In Primary School, students can join the Student Council. They are chosen by their classmates to give feedback to the school, for example about activities or school lunches, and to help plan House activities during the year. Students can also become Student Ambassadors, acting as positive role models who welcome new students and help create a happy, caring class environment. Playleaders influence how games and activities are organised and help plan the use of playground and recreational spaces.
Student Councils are also an important part of Middle School and Upper School. These roles build on what students learn in Primary School, with more responsibility as their confidence and understanding grow. In Secondary School, Student Ambassadors may represent the school at events and help welcome visitors. The House system also includes House Leaders, such as Captains and Vice-Captains, who work across different grade levels to organise activities, encourage teamwork, and build a strong sense of community.
Through all of these leadership opportunities, SIS students grow into confident, responsible, and engaged members of the school community.
