Job Overview
Stockholm International School is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic IT Team and empower all SIS employees and students to do their best work. You will focus on removing technical barriers to productivity and learning and finding creative solutions to new challenges.
The IT Team at SIS is a flexible and agile team, responsible for a wide variety of services and processes and you will play a key role in removing technical barriers and delivering high-quality services to SIS employees and students. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing IT infrastructure, including managing a variety of cloud-based networking solutions, while ensuring the smooth daily operation of all IT systems. Your contributions will directly impact the learning experience at Stockholm International School, empowering students and staff through technology-driven solutions.
Duties/responsibilities
- Manage, and maintain the school’s cloud-based network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, stability, and security for both wired and wireless networks across the campus.
- Troubleshoot network, infrastructure and hardware issues proactively, preventing downtime and ensuring the network runs smoothly.
- Leverage network automation tools to monitor and resolve issues before they impact users.
- Assist in implementing and managing network security protocols.
- Ensure the school’s digital environment adheres to secure networking best practices.
- Leverage automation tools and network management solutions, to address potential issues and streamline IT operations.
- Install, configure, and maintain a variety of devices (macOS, ChromeOS, Windows, iOS) across the network.
- Manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform, to streamline device deployments and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Provide prompt, friendly, and effective support to students, teachers, and staff for their IT needs, ensuring technology enhances the learning and/or working experience.
- Help teachers integrate technology into their classrooms by assisting with device setup (such as interactive displays, projectors, and mobile devices).
- Offer student tech support, including assistance with educational devices (iPads, Chromebooks, Macbooks) and applications used in learning, such as Google Workspace and classroom-specific tools.
- Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting IT resources for school events, such as assemblies, ensuring that audio-visual and conferencing systems work seamlessly.
- Organize and run IT support drop-in sessions (Tech Bar) where students and staff can get help for technical issues or receive training on school systems and software.
- Provide technical support for school events, including evening and weekend activities, as needed.
Qualifications, Attributes and Experience
- You have experience supporting macOS, ChromeOS, and Windows-based systems and enjoy providing personal support to help users solve technical problems.
- You are familiar with network management tools, including Cisco Meraki or similar cloud-based networking platforms.
- You have a basic understanding of Linux and have exposure to scripting and terminal use.
- You are familiar with Mobile Device Management platforms.
- You articulate yourself well in English, vocally and in writing
- You have strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset and are able to work independently and collaboratively.
- You are a curious person and a fast learner. You enjoy diving into new technologies and tools.
- You have a degree or diploma (Yrkeshögskolan or equivalent) in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or a related field.
- You are sensitive to cultural differences and eager to work in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- You are able to prioritise and manage multiple cases effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus points for
- Experience working in a fast-paced school environment
- Experience with Google Workplace, Jamf Pro and other applicable cloud services
- Understanding of secure networking best practices
- Working knowledge of Swedish.
Contract: Permanent
Employment rate: 100%
Starting date: 6th of January 2025 (or earlier)
Salary: Fixed salary
