A student with her project design and visitors to the exhibition

Getting personal

The MYP 5 Personal Project Exhibition took place on 26 April. This year saw a remarkable range of interests, personal challenges, creativity, and technical skills deployed to problem-solve, entertain, and educate.

It’s invidious to single out particular contributions among such a wealth of talent, but a few items caught your correspondent’s eye.

Fusion flavours made for some great desserts, bringing together Taiwanese influences with traditional Swedish recipes. Semla with the added tang of passion fruit is definitely to be recommended. The oriental theme was also reflected in couture, with skilful needlework used to great effect with Chinese silks to fashion a very stylish dress. Elsewhere technology and art vied for attention, one student creating a website aiming to demystify the world of cryptocurrency and another capturing the light and tranquillity of winter snowscapes in painstakingly layered oils.

It all spoke to a magnificent creative energy and enthusiasm among our students, and Anna Söderström and her colleagues are to be congratulated for bringing it all together for families and staff to enjoy.
