Ashrita Das

Ashrita Das teaches Grade 3. Teaching has been her passion. She has had the opportunity of being a primary school teacher for over twenty years in international schools across Asia and Europe. Ashrita did her Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada, and Masters in Personnel Management from the University of Pune, India.

Having spent her growing up years in the USA, Africa, and India, and since then through extensive travels across Europe and Asia, she has developed an understanding and respect for cultural diversities, which she has always taken into her classrooms. Her teaching philosophy is to nurture and guide students to develop a love for learning, and to instill in them the essential traits of character that enable them to become contributing citizens.

She came to Stockholm with her husband, Atonu, in 2010, and for both of them, this gorgeous city has become home. They love to experience the many hues of this beautiful planet through travelling. You will always find a book in her bicycle basket; yoga and running keep her centered, while kayaking, trekking, and camping keep the adventurous side of her alive!

For Ashrita every new school year is filled with excitement to learn from her students and colleagues, to build a caring and kind community, and to see student’s creativity and curiosity unfold. Her classroom is student-centered with a focus on positivity, empathy, and teamwork. She encourages her students to take responsibility for their own learning and to help each other achieve their goals.
