Eric Beck
Eric Beck begins this new chapter as the Head of Learning at Stockholm International School after more than thirty years as an educator. He is excited by the opportunity to support transformative experiences for all learners, and help tell the story of learning at SIS.
Eric taught for twenty-one years in a variety of middle and high schools across the globe. Originally from California, he first served in public schools for eight years, including being a founding teacher at a charter school for first-generation-to-college students. While at the International School of Beijing and then the International School of Kuala Lumpur, Eric found creative ways to teach within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. His focus turned to middle school at the American School of Madrid, and the Graded School in São Paulo, Brazil, where he helped develop curriculum, MUN, and House programs specific to the needs of middle school students.
For the past ten years, Eric has served in school leadership as an Assistant Principal at Washington International School in Washington D.C. and in his current role as Middle School Principal at St. Johnsbury Academy, Jeju in South Korea. In these leadership roles, he dedicated himself to the alignment of everyday practice with the mission and values of the school. Eric studied History and Service Learning at Tufts University, and earned his Masters in Education from Stanford University. He is delighted to join the Stockholm International School community with his wife Trish, and sons Maddox and Dane.
