I am passionate about encouraging students to inquire into their own interests and questions, making learning more relevant and helping them develop into lifelong learners. As both a PYP coordinator and teacher, I look forward to collaborating with the teaching and wider community and developing systems and documentation to support the candidacy and authorisation phase of PYP at SIS.
Working in the diverse multilingual environments of international schools and experiencing the unique circumstances of the international community has been one of the highlights of my teaching career for over 20 years. For the last ten years, I have been a member of the Primary and Middle Years Programme team that went through the IB authorisation and evaluation process. I am also a Programme Leader in the International Baccalaureate Educators Network (IBEN). The role of a programme leader is to provide programme expertise during evaluation in schools implementing IB programmes. My degrees include a Master’s and 2 PGCEs, the first one in education and the second one in SEN Coordination. The education of gifted/highly able students has been an area of particular interest for me. I have a certification in Effective Practice in Gifted Education and this helped me to set up and run the Highly Able Program for PYP and MYP at my previous school.
I look forward to contributing and being a part of all the fantastic things to come in the future for SIS.
