IB in our sights

Our Primary School has been on a journey towards becoming an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB-PYP) School. In September 2022 we applied for ‘Candidacy’ – a period of time in which a trial implementation of the PYP takes place. 

With the guidance of our IB Consultant, and our PYP Coordinator, SIS was able to meet the demands set for this period and end the candidacy in May 2023 with a visit from our Consultant to confirm our readiness. We then applied for Authorisation in December 2023. This was approved by the IB with no concerns that we needed to address. 

Shortly, a team from the IB will visit to evaluate our progress. The aim of this is to confirm that SIS has taken all necessary actions to meet the authorisation requirements and is prepared to offer the PYP IB programme. As part of this visit the IB team will be observing classes as well as meeting with all stakeholder groups, including our Students, Teachers, Parents, Leadership, and Board of Trustees. 

We look forward to this visit as we prepare to become a full continuum IB World School.
