Students watching the Green Flag announcement

Flying the (green) flag for SIS

The ‘Green Flag’ scheme is a unique learning programme in sustainable development. It is operated by ‘Keep Sweden Clean’ (Håll Sverige Rent) and is part of the international network, Eco-Schools. We are delighted that Stockholm International School was judged one of the top five schools from across the whole of Sweden, for the ‘Sustainable School in Sweden 2021’ award. Students involved in the scheme gathered with SIS sustainability coordinator, Stephanie Bradford, to watch the live streaming of the announcement.

Worldwide, important steps are being taken by individuals, companies, and countries that support the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development, and we at SIS are part of that. As SIS Student Filipa Strömberg says:

‘Participating in Green Flag made me feel part of a bigger movement taking place all throughout Sweden. Overall it was a large success and a great learning opportunity.’

You’ll be able to read more about sustainability actions in the school in a future issue of Dispatch and here on the SIS website.
