Put on your smartest suit, your most fabulous frock, your shiniest shoes, and your most glamorous party face for the social highlight of our 70th Anniversary year. The SIS Gala promises to be a night to remember!

 

It’s all happening at the iconic Berns Hotel in the vibrant heart of Stockholm. Built at the dawning of the Belle Époque, Berns encapsulates the grandeur of a bygone era while embracing all modern life’s creature comforts. Enjoy the ambience created by its crystal chandeliers, panelled galleries, and beautiful proportions, and throw yourself into its beguiling charm.

Jazzing it up

Our first musical act, getting the evening off to a cool and sophisticated start, will be The Stockholm Jazz Trio.  The Trio formed in late 2008 as a tribute to the great Oscar Peterson Trio that featured Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums between 1959 and 1964. They have appeared regularly at the Glenn Miller Café, the most popular jazz club in Stockholm, playing an extensive repertoire that encompasses music from “all” the great piano trios. The Trio are: Daniel Tilling – piano, Jan Adefelt – bass, and Jesper Kviberg – drums.

Singing a different tune

Mitch Smolkin will be opening his American songbook as he showcases his vocal talents for your entertainment. Mitch’s performing career has taken him around the world, including touring South America and performing at the legendary Town Hall on Broadway. He has shared the stage with such notable performers as Mandy Patinkin, Jerry Stiller, Theodore Bikel, Bebe Neuwirth, and more than one puppet from Sesame Street.

All in the mix

Mr MAQS started his journey in music at the beginning of the 90s, specialising in black music. Through his following work as promoter for DJs and agent for music artists worldwide, mainly in the electronic music field, he has spent the last 30 years improving his tastes. From Hip-Hip to Disco, traveling through Electro, Funk, and House music, you can expect a wide range of dance mixes to keep you moving to midnight.
